Scott L. Thompson DVM

Scott L. Thompson DVM

Dr. Thompson graduated from Purdue University in 1979 where he earned his BS and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degrees. After graduation, he practiced small animal medicine in Carmel, Indiana from 1979 - 1983. On April 1, 1983 he took over the practice at East Side Animal Hospital from its previous owner (Dr. Edward Weidenbenner). With the help of his wife Beth, his children, a dedicated staff, and a lot of long hours and hard work, he has worked to develop ESAH into a caring, high-quality facility with the mission of helping people and helping pets. Dr. Thompson and Beth currently own four dogs: Lab/chow mix – Smokey, maltese mix – Lucky, long-haired Dachshund – Shiner, and lab/mastiff mix - Mosby. Dr. Thompson loves animals of all types and has a special interest and expertise in Avian and Exotic medicine. Dr. T enjoys life outside of work by exercising, walking his dogs, wood working, and gardening.

Walter G. Haines DVM, ABVP

Walter G. Haines, DVM, ABVP (Canine and Feline Practice)

Walter G. Haines, DVM, ABVP (Canine and Feline Practice) has practiced small animal medicine and surgery since graduating from Auburn University. Dr. Haines practiced in Glasgow, KY before selling his practice and moving to Metairie, LA where he was employed by VCA as an associate veterinarian then as Medical Director at VCA Airline Animal Hospital. In 2011 Dr. Haines accepted the Managing Veterinarian position at Manzano Animal Clinic a five-veterinarian facility owned by NVA in Albuquerque, MN. Since June of 2014 Dr. Haines has resided in Kentucky practicing small animal medicine and surgery. His special interests are in the areas of Internal Medicine, Diagnostic Ultrasound, Minimally Invasive Surgery, and Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Haines has been married to his wife Paula for 30 years and has two children and five grand children. He and Paula have two dogs Austin a Golden Retriever And Percy a Chocolate Labrador Retriever.

Brianna, “Bri,” Practice Manager

Brianna Practice Manager

Bri graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology and a minor in Management. She started her career at East Side Animal Hospital in 2007 as a Client Service Representative and became the Practice Manager in 2010. Bri enjoys spending time with the loves of her life, husband Dustin and daughters Harper and Averie, plus her close friends and family. She's got her hands full at home with her furry babies, as well: 2 dogs, Memie and Sully, and a cat, Syd-Vicious. A few of her favorite things are traveling, decorating, and trying out new recipes at home. When asked what she likes most about working at ESAH: "I enjoy meeting new clients and patients, as well as, working with our wonderful established clients and patients. It's a great feeling to be part of a team that does everything possible to help patients live long, healthy, and happy lives."

Jessica, Lead Registered Veterinary Technician

Jessica, Registered Veterinary Technician

Jessica attended Murray State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in animal health technology. Jessica started working full time at East Side Animal Hospital in 2007 but has recently moved to part time due to an offer she couldn't resist—she now works full time at Harrison College as the Director of their Veterinary Technology Department! Jessica and her husband, Josh, have a son, Jakob; two dachshunds named Willy and Izzy; and a cat named Syd. Outside of work, Jessica likes to spend time with her family and friends. She also likes to work in her yard and play golf. Jessica says she loves coming to work knowing that she will see and learn something new every day and, of course, she really enjoys seeing all of the cute puppies and kittens!

Rachael, Registered Veterinary Technician

Rachael, Registered Veterinary Technician

Rachael graduated from Harrison College in 2013 and immediately started her career here at East Side Animal Hospital. In 2016, Rachael was promoted to become our Lead Registered Veterinary Technician. Here at work, you will find Rachael caring for our hospitalized and surgery patients with a loving hand. Rachael spends a lot of time with and is super close to her family - mom, twin brother, Justin, and younger brother, Kyle. She also has 5 rescued dachshunds at home that take up a lot of her free time. Rachael likes working at East Side because her fellow staff are like her second family!

Kelsey, Veterinary Technician

Kelsey recently earned her Associates in Veterinary Technology from Harrison College here in Evansville and completed a 10-week externship at C.R.O.W. (Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife), located in Sanibel Island, Florida. Kelsey comes from a family of four which includes her loving parents and a twin brother. Kelsey's favorite hobbies include game nights with friends, movie nights with her grandma and mom, and helping out others whenever possible. At East Side, Kelsey enjoys "being able to work with a helpful staff that wants to make a difference in each patient that come through our doors."

Breanna "Bre", Registered Veterinary Technician

Bree, Veterinary Technician

Bre joined East Side Animal Hospital in May of 2017 for her externship through Harrison College’s Veterinary Technology program. Prior to working here, Bre spent 3 ½ years working at a local rescue where she developed her passion for animals into a career. Bre has 3 fur-babies at home: Snicker, a cat that she adopted as a baby kitten, Nikko, an American mutt she adopted during her rescue days, and Boe, a sweet boxer mix. Bre loves working out, hiking with Nikko, and spending time with all of her fur-babies. Looking forward to her future at ESAH, Bre says that she is excited to learn and grow her skills as a veterinary technician in order to help our patients to the best of her abilities.

Larry, Veterinary Technician

Larry graduated from Murry State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with special emphasis on Veterinary Technology in the Spring of 2018. After shadowing at our hospital while in college, Larry decided to complete his externship with us as well. As of July, Larry is a full time Veterinary Technologist at our facility! Larry grew up in this area as the middle child of three. His interests outside of work include playing Xbox, football, and basketball. He also enjoys reading, watching movies, and writing his own stories. When asked what Larry likes best about working here, he says “Being able to work with animals and ensuring they live the longest and happiest lives they can have!”

Ali, Veterinary Technician Assistant

Ali, Veterinary Technician

Ali is currently attending Harrison College Veterinary Technician program to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. During her free time away from school and work, Ali loves swimming with her beautiful daughter Amelia Izabella, walking dogs at the Humane Society, and fostering pets. Ali’s favorite part of working at ESAH is getting to know the pets in our care and giving them extra cuddles while they are here!

Hunter, Veterinary Technician Assistant

Hunter is in the process of completing her Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology at Harrison College & working at East Side in order to get the type of hands-on training that will help her excel in the veterinary world. She has 2 pups, dachshunds named Clark and Ein, that she loves spending her free time with. She also enjoys spending time with her family and boyfriend and enjoys outdoor activities – camping and hiking are two of her faves. She looks forward to being a part of the ESAH family and gaining experience in the veterinary field!

Briana "Red", Veterinary Technician Assistant/Pet Adoption Coordinator

Briana Red, Veterinary Technician Assistant

Red majored in Biology for 2 years at University of Mobile in Alabama before deciding to move to Evansville and attend Harrison College to study Veterinary Technology. While in Alabama, Red had the opportunity to work at an all cat shelter for 5 years! When not at school or helping our patients, Red enjoys working on large puzzles, reading books, and baking for her friends. She also strives to spend her free time with her dog, Jessie, whenever she can! At East Side, Red loves the new challenges that come her way every day and getting to be a part of a team that helps patients live better lives. Her favorite is participating in surgery and nursing patients while they recover!

Katelyn, Lead Client Service Rep/Social Media Coordinator

East Side Animal Hospital is Katelyn's first job in the animal field but she has grown up around and cared for animals her entire life. Katelyn's family consists of her husband, Nathan, and their beautiful baby boy, Waylon. Furry family members include 2 dogs (Colt, a Yorkie, and Lady, a Bloodhound) though Katelyn would have more if her husband would let her. Some of Katelyn's favorites include working out, watching/playing sports (football and basketball are her favorite) and of course, spending time with her little family plus her sister and niece. Katelyn enjoys working at East Side because of the positive atmosphere, enjoys talking to our clients and of course being around all of the sweet patients that come in!

Aubree, Client Service Representative/Value Communicator

Aubree began her career in the veterinary field in October of 2017. Prior to becoming a Client Service Rep at our hospital, Aubree has had years of customer experience. Aubree and her fiancé, Brad, have two sweet pups: Hazel, a terrier/corgi mix, and Ginger, a coonhound mix. In her spare time, Aubree enjoys playing soccer, reading, running, and Pinterest 😊 Aubree loves meeting new patients and working with her fabulous co-workers!

Kiley, Client Service Representative/Pet Adoption Coordinator

Kiley’s background includes resident care but she has always had a love for animals of all kinds and decided to turn her love into a career. Some of Kiley’s favorite activities are camping at Shawnee, hiking (Garden of the Gods is her fav), and spending time with her boyfriend, Devin, her ferret, Oscar, and her 9 nieces and nephews! If she not doing the above, you can catch Kiley watching The Food Network, reading, or baking. Kiley loves being a part of our East Side team because our clients are almost like family and our patients make her smile 😊

Mackenzie, Client Service Representative

Mackenzie, Client Service Representative

A recent Arizona transplant, Mackenzie joined East Side’s team in mid-2018 in order to get some hands-on veterinary experience. She is currently enrolled at Harrison College in their Vet Tech program and looks forward to becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician in the future! Mackenzie and her husband have one fur-baby, Sanchez, a precious kitty. Mackenzie loves camping, fishing, riding horses, and painting. She is a people (& pet) person and really enjoys interacting with our clients and patients on a daily basis!

Elizabeth “Beth,” Housekeeper/Animal Caretaker

Beth Housekeeper/Animal Caretaker

Beth has worked at East Side Animal Hospital since 1994 and is an integral part of our organization. She has three brothers, one dog, and four cats. In her spare time, Beth enjoys reading, running, walking her dog, and weaving. Beth’s favorite thing about working at East Side Animal Hospital is working with the animals, which she does very well!

Elliot, Animal Caretaker

Elliot, Animal Caretaker

Elliot joined East Side Animal Hospital during his sophomore year of high school. He’s always had an interest in working with animals and hopes to be a veterinarian one day. Elliot has learned from his family the importance of hard work and dedication and one of his greatest accomplishments is achieving the second-highest percentile on his PSAT scores. Elliot recently adopted his very own kitten, Achilles, from our Caring Heart Orphanage and is loving the new responsibility he is learning through taking care of her. When he’s not working, attending school, or spending time with his family and pets, Elliot enjoys playing video games and playing/watching a variety of sports. Elliot hopes to gain experience in caring for and helping animals during his time at ESAH, in order to build upon his future in animal care.

Laine, Animal Caretaker


Laine started working at East Side in June of 2018 while on summer break from high school. She has regularly volunteered at the vaccine clinic at Vanderburgh Humane Society and loves to stay busy (especially if she is working with animals!) Laine lives in Evansville and is close to her supportive family – mom, dad, brother, and 2 dogs (Tater and Boomer). She is extremely committed to school and also enjoys many activities, including volunteer work, riding horses, drawing, spending time with friends, and being on the board of the Highland Challenger Baseball League. At ESAH, Laine says she loves seeing a variety of animals every day and getting to work with other animal lovers! She also loves learning more about animals and medicine!

Anna, Animal Caretaker/Veterinary Assistant

Anna, Animal Caretaker/Veterinary Assistant

Anna is currently halfway through school at Harrison College to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. She grew up, the youngest of three, in Jasper, Indiana and moved to Evansville to start school after graduating from high school. Anna has two dogs, Heidi, a Newfoundland, and Moby, a Great Pyrenees, that get a lot of her attention when she isn’t at work or school. She also enjoys spending time with friends and shopping. Anna is excited to be able to work with all of the animals we see here at ESAH and getting to know our wonderful staff!
