History

The East Side Animal Hospital was originally established by Dr. Edward Weidenbener who built and ran the practice for twenty-nine years. In April 1983 Dr. Scott L. Thompson, the current owner, purchased the practice. Dr. Thompson is a 1979 graduate of Purdue University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. His areas of interest are dermatology, exotic animal medicine, surgery and practice management. Prior to obtaining his D.V.M. degree, Dr. Thompson had graduated from Purdue with a B.S. in Agronomy. In 1995-1996 because of rapid growth and Dr. Thompson’s desire to provide the best veterinary care possible, East Side Animal Hospital was remodeled and expanded to its current layout and size. In 1996 the hospital added its first associate veterinarian. In 2001, East Side Animal Hospital’s Doctor staff expanded to three to handle the increasing number of patients and to allow for the expansion of services and increased specialization.

In 2003 another goal was accomplished when we passed the rigorous requirements for quality medical care and, through comprehensive inspection, became an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association. AAHA has contributed greatly to the care of patients and encourages continuing improvement through meetings and seminars with that goal in mind. We are proud to be a member of the organization.

Today our mission is to provide the best possible service and compassionate care to our clients and patients in a professional manner. We see ourselves as a dedicated group of professionals working together to do an excellent job for our clients, patients, and the profession of veterinary medicine. We attribute our success to our well-educated staff, our well-maintained equipment, and commitment to a high standard of excellence.
