We can provide you and your bird or exotic most all the services that we provide for dogs and cats—and even a few extras:

Everyday handling and care can be a bit more challenging with an avian or exotic pet, depending on the species. It is oftentimes difficult to detect illness or problems with birds, lizards, or other exotics, as they may not demonstrate the same symptoms as dogs or cats. But fear not—our qualified veterinarians and staff at East Side Animal Hospital are prepared to tackle any and all issues claw by claw.

Here are a few at-home signs to look for in your avian or exotic that may indicate a sick or unhappy pet:

  • Your bird is puffed up
  • Your bird is plucking its own feathers
  • Your bird is sitting at the bottom of his or her cage
  • Watery stool
  • Not eating
  • Foul odor coming from the mouth
  • Foul odor coming from a wound
  • Redness, swelling, or discharge coming from the mouth
  • Drooling
  • Weight loss
  • Seizures
  • Nasal discharge or cough
  • Overgrown teeth
  • Hair loss

“We have used East Side Animal Hospital for about 12 years. We have had dogs, cats, hamsters, gerbils, and guinea pigs in for treatment. Each time, we were greeted warmly, and Dr. Thompson took the best care of our animals. I highly recommend East Side for all your needs when it comes to taking care of your babies.”
